L01: Putting it All Together
http://hotsportconversation.blogspot.com/
The prophet has recently asked us to read the Book
of Mormon before the end of the year. 2 Nephi 4:15 reads, “For my soul
delighteth in the scriptures, and my heart pondereth them, and writeth them for
the learning and the profit of my children.” This scripture mentions three
things we must do, we must have the delight to read, we must ponder as we read
and write or take notes as we read the scriptures which I believe is in
connection with what we have studied. The Scripture Study Skills. We are asked
to study
the scriptures. We are asked to actively search the scriptures looking for
doctrines, topics, themes, answers to questions, etc. and apply the skill to
find additional insights from those we are already familiar with.
Developing the habit of daily scripture study must
start now as we have been admonished by the prophet to start reading the
scriptures now. The Joy of studying the scriptures brings encouragement,
direction, comfort, strength, and answers to our needs. The prophet Joseph
Smith found the solution to his problem in the Bible by reading and pondering that
passage. (see James 1:5) and he said, “Never did any passage of scripture come
with more power to the heart of man than this did at this time to mine.” He pondered
on that scripture passage many times. (JS—H 1:12).
